This project explores the idea of using process art to reveal the disintegration of an artist's ability over time. 80 paintings of the same object were painted in one sitting. There were no breaks and a 15 minute time limit on each painting. During the painting process I developed a system for painting the bird and I needed fewer of the 15 minutes allotted as I approached painting #80. I documented the process with a time-laps video (excerpt below). Each painting has a time card that includes my stamped signature and a time-stamp from the time-clock you see to my right in video. The paints or artifacts produced reveal my own focus, drowsiness, and the development of my own artistic system.
The final installation included all of the paintings hung chronologically with their time-cards hanging in the center below their matching piece. To comment on the capitalist formula of (experience+time=value) the first painting in the series was sold for $1 and the last $80. More than half the works were sold at the opening.
